Human trails for Covid-19 vaccine in Africa has been receiving some postive updates, South African ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Vaccine is one of the 19 experimental vaccine being tested on humans globally in a race to find vaccines to stop a pandemic that has killed more than half a million people so far.

The African Union Commission has launched a consortium for Covid-19 vaccine clinical rials aimed toward securing quite Ten trials as early as possible.

The new consortium is going to be headed by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

It will compile global vaccine developers, funders, and African organizations that facilitate clinical trials to make sure that sufficient data on the effects of vaccine candidates on the African population is generated. This may enable vaccines to be confidently unrolled in Africa once approved.

The AU Commission says rolling out a vaccine in Africa is vital to, “limiting transmission, preventing deaths and laying the inspiration for socio-economic recovery that ought to bring Africa’s integration agenda back on track”.

Success in developing and providing access to a secure vaccine requires an innovative and collaborative approach, with significant local manufacturing in Africa. we’d like to support the contribution of African scientists and healthcare professionals. we’d like to act with urgency,” said AU Chairperson President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Two African Country, South Africa and Egypt are already running human trials for a possible vaccine.
